The cost of the lunar mission will be met in cryptocurrency

SpaceX will send a satellite to the moon next year. The full cost of this mission will be paid in cryptocurrency Dodgecoin. Financing Canadian company Geometric Energy Corporation will lead the lunar mission.

The Calgary-based company said in a statement that the “Dodge-1” satellite will be launched in the first quarter of 2022 via SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. The 6-pound (40-kilogram) cubic satellite will collect data using its sensors and cameras.

Dodge-1 is the first commercial lunar mission to be fully funded by Dodgecoin. However, the Geometric Energy Corporation did not confirm the cost of the operation. “We are very pleased with the decision to send a Dodge-1 satellite to the moon,” said Tom Ochinero, vice president of commercial sales at SpaceX. This mission proves that the use of cryptocurrency has now gone beyond Earth to space. It has now laid the foundation for interplanetary trade. Source: Reuters.
